Open Littleton Smoking Ordinance Question:
Several communities in Colorado have been moving to put restrictions on smoking in outdoor public places in their downtown areas. Some of these communities are Golden, Boulder, and Fort Collins. The rationale for these restrictions are to make these areas a more inviting atmosphere for people to walk, shop, and eat. Many municipalities have been placing restrictions on electronic smoking as well, for the same reasons listed above.
Would you support a smoking ban, including electronic smoking, in the outdoor public spaces in the downtown area bounded approximately by Santa Fe Dr. on the west, Powers Ave. on the north, Rio Grande St./Bega St. on the east, and Alamo Ave. on the south? Please explain your response.
City Council will be considering an ordinance on the topic in August. Your comments will be provided to Council for their deliberations.
