I visit friends/family/businesses in the project area
Which of the following are reasons you would choose to travel by vehicle instead of walking or biking to transit or your destination? (Select all that apply)
I don’t feel safe enough walking or biking
No direct/complete route on sidewalks or trails to my destination
What elements of the transportation system make you feel unsafe when you're walking or biking in the project area? (Select all that apply)
Vehicle speed
Turning vehicles
No separation between bike lanes and vehicles
Crossing at intersection
Please describe in detail any safety concerns you have, including locations when possible.
The project area contains roads with slip-lanes. I believe these contribute both to the speed of cars as well as a sense of danger to anyone walking or rolling. Slip-lanes should be disfavored and removed.
Which improvements to the transportation system would entice you to walk or bike to transit or your destination more often instead of driving? (Select all that apply)
Buffer or vertical separation between bike lane and vehicles
Safer crossings at intersections
Longer crossing times at intersection
Improved accessibility for people with disabilities
Other - One motorcyclist was severely injured at Mineral/SFB this fall. A pedestrian was killed by a too-fast driver on Prince St just north of project area. Street design in project area over-favors cars. Needs balance, traffic calming, more stop signs.
Please share any questions or other general comments regarding the Mineral Mobility Improvements.
Replace all pedestrian/bike/roller crossings in project area with Stop Signs and full traffic signals (esp around Jackass Hill). Do NOT use HAWK signals since these merely flash yellow and do not clearly force drivers to stop for vulnerable road users. HAWKs merely 'advise' drivers but are routinely ignored by drivers. The residential streets of the project area do NOT need to make "driver convenience/speed" the priority." Prince St/Jackass Hill Rd should have vehicular speed reduced to 20 MPH max -- as was recently done on ALL Denver residential streets. If we want people to walk, roll, or bike then we must stop making "driver speed" the first order of planning business.
