Which of the following are reasons you would choose to travel by vehicle instead of walking or biking to transit or your destination? (Select all that apply)
To save time
Weather
Traveling to multiple/distant destinations
No convenient transit route to my destination
Other - I live 'uphill' form this area, the hill itself is a challenge to bike or walk up, good exercise thought
What elements of the transportation system make you feel unsafe when you're walking or biking in the project area? (Select all that apply)
Proximity to roadway
Crossing at intersection
Narrow sidewalks
Please describe in detail any safety concerns you have, including locations when possible.
Mineral is clearly wide enough to handle a separated bike lane until just west of jackass hill. The sidewalk juts back out toward the roadway taking the space where the bike lane could be. This was probably done because of the railroad overpass. I like the idea of the bike lane but how do you get the biker across Mineral without using the bridge meant for pedestrians?
The sightline for the crossing at the top of jackass hill is bad to say the least. To really make this safe, crossing flashers probably need to be installed and to be most effective they should be 'downhill' a bit to warn NB traffic. Also the speed limit may need to be lowered. To be honest, I don't know what it is on this stretch but when I come across people crossing here I feel I have to hit my brakes a bit harder than I should have to.
Which improvements to the transportation system would entice you to walk or bike to transit or your destination more often instead of driving? (Select all that apply)
Wider sidewalks
Paved off-street path
Safer crossings at intersections
