Which of the following are reasons you would choose to travel by vehicle instead of walking or biking to transit or your destination? (Select all that apply)
To save time
Weather
Traveling to multiple/distant destinations
Avoiding transit due to COVID
What elements of the transportation system make you feel unsafe when you're walking or biking in the project area? (Select all that apply)
Vehicle speed
Too many vehicles
Proximity to roadway
Turning vehicles
No separation between bike lanes and vehicles
Crossing at intersection
Please describe in detail any safety concerns you have, including locations when possible.
Mineral Ave/Long Ave intersection: Lack of protected left makes crossing at this intersection difficult for cars due to right-turn conflicts and especially dangerous for pedestrians contending with left & right turning vehicles, especially at peak times. Often, anyone crossing here will instead opt to jaywalk at the bottom of Mineral by the BNSF tracks.
Mineral Ave/Long Ave near Writer's Vista Park: Often used as a ped crossing for access to the social trail connecting to the Mineral Ave trail.
Mineral Ave between Santa Fe and Long Ave northern sidewalk: Zero protection from vehicles should they leave the roadway, especially during inclement weather. Noisy, dirty, and unpleasant, but it's the only way to reasonably access the Mineral LRT station.
Which improvements to the transportation system would entice you to walk or bike to transit or your destination more often instead of driving? (Select all that apply)
Paved off-street path
Buffer or vertical separation between bike lane and vehicles
Safer crossings at intersections
Please share any questions or other general comments regarding the Mineral Mobility Improvements.
First, thank you Littleton! Small changes in this travel shed will make significant improvements. Even a protected left or longer cycle at Mineral/Long Ave would be incredible.
